HW #2

I had a bit of trouble in designing my own tote. I tried to make a complex shape that was just simply beyond my skill level. Frustrated, I closed my laptop and went to do something else... without saving. Therefore, attached is the original tote design: https://a360.co/2SqIeKh

For my in-class project, I decided that I'd like to print a laser etching of my car. I started with a photo I found of one online:
I then printed it to get an idea of how it looked.
The un-edited image had a lot of grain, and with how dark it was, some of the contrast was lost. Since I have a white car, I wanted to try to get the color as light as possible. The cardboard cutout was a smaller test print after editing the photo. I rasterised it and traced it point by point to cut out, as the image trace function distorted the image significantly. I also played around with the power settings a bit to get a much lighter color.
Edited photo. Had to do some re-learning of Illustrator, and had to make a couple sacrifices due to time/knowledge constraints. With more time I would have gone in and traced all the little shapes to ensure coloration remained consistent.
And here's the final print! I mounted it to a backing board as well. I'm surprised with how well it came out. I was not expecting to be able to get the body color to be that light, which is exactly what I was going for!
