HW#1 Fingertip Corner Laser Cut Prototype

I decided to make a Fingertip Corner from the CSI Prototyping Library for my first attempt using the Zing laser cutter. I wanted to construct this design because I found the hinge pattern quite interesting. I first cut out the design in cardboard as a way to verify that the design would work before I cut it out on ~1/4 inch plywood. I found no problems with the design and even learned how to add text, such as my name, to the front. The finished plywood design is shown in Figures 1 and 2. In both figures there are pretty distinct burn marks on the edges. Next time I am going to lower the power on the laser as a way to reduce this burning effect. The other thing I noticed was that the fingertip joint loosely fit together, probably a product of some of the material being lost in the cutting process. If I were to permanently fix the two together they would definitely need to be glued.
