So I've started designing my tote for Trinity's Engineering Probs class... I have to say I don't have a real need for a tool tote. But anyone who has paint and paintbrushes knows that it is a challenge to find a good place to store them! It's easy to damage the bristles and it would be nice if you could hold the little paint tubes nearby. Plus, it's an added bonus if you could store the paintbrushes upwards after washing them to let the bristles dry. Long story short, my tool tote will be a paint tote.
I drew up a design in Fusion360. Here's what I've come up with so far:
As you can see, there are a lot of curves. I think I was channeling Gaudi... It was fun to play with the spline tool in Fusion! Here's a better view of the front and side:
I plan to use the smaller side pockets (3"x4.25") for the brushes because they'll keep the brushes close together and standing close to vertical. I also didn't want the tall brushes to affect the comfort of holding the tote (e.i. get in the way of the handle). You could also put pencils or markers in the side pockets! That way, the paint tubes can lay vertically in the longer middle pockets (9.5"x4.25"). My go-to's are liquid watercolor and acrylic paints. I love the ones that come in tubes that are about half an inch in diameter and 2.5 inches long because they're convenient and you don't have to be wasteful if one goes bad. That being said, I designed the tote so that you could easily fit small tubes and separate the watercolor and acrylic. Here's a top view:
First, I'm going to cut it all by hand. Wish me luck! I'm totally open to suggestions/feedback. More to photos come!
