Project 1: Soda Bottle Carrier
2/7/2019
For the first project, I've decided to slightly modify the toolbox example to make a tote which can carry soda bottles, as well as other beverages in glass bottles. I started this project out by measuring the thickness of the available wood and doing a little research to find the standard dimensions for glass bottles. I discovered that the typical glass bottle has a diameter of 2.408" and a height of 9.094", though some may be as tall as 10.832" and as wide as 2.914". Based on this I decided each bottle should have its own 3" x 3" space in the carrier. I wanted the carrier to hold at most six bottle at a time, so based on this and the previous dimensions I designed the carrier on Fusion 360. The design can be found here. I'm still working on it and I may decide to make some other adjustments to it as the project progresses. The current iteration is shown in Figure 1.
