HW #2 Guitar Hook

So for this project I decided to solve a problem I've been having with my guitar. Since I don't have a stand for it it kept getting out of tune when it was leaned against the wall. So I decided to make a wall mount / guitar hook for it. I started out by testing out the idea I had to see it was even worth it.
I made the piece above to fit around the desk in the engineering fishbowl and it worked out pretty well and could withstand some weight. But I did realize to help with the stability I would need to reinforce the sides too help keep the U shape from bowing out too much.

So with this new design I began the printing process with the zing laser cutter. It went fairly well and I managed to fit all of the pieces on a single sheet of the laminated plywood.
So I took the design and cut out a prototype made out of cardboard and taped it together and test fitted it on the shelf it was designed to sit on. It fit pretty snug so I decided to move forward to the wooden version. The cut went fairly quickly but I realized the assembly was much more complicated then I anticipated. It was a bit of a struggle gluing it all together with no teeth to hold the piece in place. I did manage to glue it up and when I brought it home I realized I had made a mistake. The shelf it was made for bowed slightly in the middle. I didn't realize this with the cardboard prototype because the cardboard bent around the bow.  So with the plywood board It didn't bend. And the whole piece was too short by a 1/8th of an inch. So I ended up having to change that design and cannibalized part of the failed model to print the newer model which, thankfully, was big enough. After running back to my dorm to make sure it fit I finished printing the piece and dealt with the same construction issues.

So in the end I painted it with some watered down red acrylic paint so the wood would show through. It worked well in all but the top rounds due to the laminate coating I forgot to sand off. Overall It turned out fairly well and works just as I have hoped.
